Seated Row Narrow Grip - Cables

Set the cables up so that the pulley is at it's lowest setting and you have the narrow bar attached or 2 single handles like we have in the video.

Sit down facing the cables as close as you can and take hold of the bar with your palms facing downwards or palms facing each other if you use the handles. Keep your back upright and straight. Now push back through your feet so that you straighten your legs and push yourself away from the cables (still holding the handle) as far as you can whilst maintaining a small bend in your knees. You are now in the start position.

Pull the handle in towards your stomach keeping your elbows down and as close to your body as you can. When you have taken the handle as close to your stomach as you can then slowly return the handle to the start position.

During this movement it should only be your arms that move, your back should be upright and still and your legs should remain with a slight bend at the knee and not straighten at all.


Do's Don'ts
  • Do keep your tummy tight
  • Do keep your back straight
  • Do breathe out on the way back and in on the way forward
  • Do keep a slight bend in your knees throughout
  • Do bend your legs to take hold of the handle
  • Do keep your elbows down and close to your body
  • Don't let your back arch or curve
  • Don't hold your breath
  • Don't swing your body to aid the movement
  • Don't lean forwards to take the handle
