Hip Rolls

Lie down on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.

This is a very small movement and it comes from your abs contracting and no other muscles. Draw your tummy in and up so that your hips roll slightly off the floor. Do not push down with your legs or hands to help get your hips off the ground. It is very important that it is just your abdominal muscles that do the work. Once you have your hips rolled round as far as you can hold the position for a second and slowly relax and let your hips return to their natural position.

Do's Don'ts
  • Do breathe out on contraction and in when relaxing
  • Do draw your stomach in as far as you can
  • Do hold the position at the top for a second
  • Do move in a slow controlled manner
  • Don't hold your breath
  • Don't use your legs or arms to help the movement
  • Don't rush the movement
